Book #3:  The Treasured Writings of Kahlil Gibran
Author:  Kahlil Gibran

Comments:  Whenever I need to find direction I can go to the Bible and find inspiration that applies to my specific situation. It is a treasure trove for any need. Finding What You Didn't Lose (Expressing Your Truth and Creativity Through Poem-Making)is a grand guide to becoming better acquainted with one's self. Often when I want to see something more clearly I find tips for writing it out in this great guidebook. The Treasured Writings of Kahlil Gibran contains so many wonderful works of which those who have only read The Prophet may be totally unaware. The stories told in this volume are completely priceless.

Book #1:  The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success
Author:  Deepak Chopra

Book #2:  Fear Not! (A Unity book)
Author:  Martha Smock

Book #3:  Ten Thousand Whispers
Author:  Lynda Madden Dahl

Comments:  Actually, there must be fifty books I would recommend, but these are the one's I turn to again and again. Deepak Chopra's book was like a bible to me when I first began this work (it is heavily underlined - in pink!- and falling to pieces now). His clear instructions and presentation led me into my first really profound experiences with meditation and controlling my own destiny, and understanding that God's DESIRE (ie our desire for ourselves, and our mission) is to learn how to be happy. "Ten Thousand Whispers", based on the "Seth" sessions, opened up startling and empowering new ways of looking at the world and the way in which, again, we create our own experiences. Finally, when I am struggling with fears and trying not to feed them with wrong thinking, "Fear Not" has been more valuable to me than any other book. All of Frances Scovel Schinn's works would follow as the best "help!" books in times of (the false appearance!) of trouble. A favorite chapter in "Fear Not!"is "I Don't Believe It!" - a superb lesson in using denials. This book and many other EXCELLENT works are available in Unity bookstores. Bye - with Love! Many blessings (of course!) on everyone who is doing this work!

Book #3:  On the Side of Angels
Author:  Biography of Gordon Higginson

Comments:  These are the three most influential books I have ever read on the subject of the spirit world, the work of the spirit world, mediumship and the spiritualist movement. All of the transcripts from Silver Birch are worth reading. Silver Birch was the Guide of Maurice Barbanell and his words were given in full control trance and the transcripts written up in several wonderfully inspirational books. If you want to know about the spiritual world, these are the books to read. I am a working medium myself and therefore am qualified to make these statements!

Book #2:  The Hot Zone

Book #3:  Contact
Author:  Carl Sagan

Comments:  Cow,Pigs, Wars and Witches changed my thinking entirely about the world. I think Marvin Harris is ultimately a very spiritual "Cultural Materialist" and his book is imprinted with human poetry, though seeming to be an anthropological camparison and study. The Hot Zone revised my understanding of biology altogether. Carl Sagan is the best translater of science into human terms that may have lived, so far.

Comments:  I also like First Blood [RAMBO] by David Morrell and Last of the Breed by Louis Lamour, which may seem to be a contradiction, but on the other hand maybe not?

Book #3:  Key to Understanding of the Scriptures
Author:  H. P. Mansfield

Comments:  The Bible is a storehouse of divine truth which will repay reading whether it be approached merely because Of its literary value, its ethical teaching, or its practical bearing on everyday life (e.g. the Proverbs). But for those who are prepared to study the contents of this wonderful volume with the object of learning what God desires of them, it offers present and future blessings beyond the ability of man to assess (Rev. 1:3), for “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him” (1 Cor. 2:9). This, however, requires study, that faith might be established and increased. “The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him neither ran he know them because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Cor. 2:14). With study there will be developed a love for the Book, and for its Author whose love will be revealed therein, and by this influence the Reader will be led to radiate that same love to others. Therefore, this divine Book is the greatest power for good in the hands of man-if it be read with understanding. Mansfield, H. P., Key to the Understanding of Scriptures, (Beverly, South Australia: Eureka Press Pty. Ltd.) 1999.

Comments:  A life long seeker, I've read nearly all of the books listed on your survey. Three years ago, the book First Thunder literally dropped into my hands. My life has changed completely and dramatically. All of the other books talk about higher states of consciousness. First Thunder and Ascension led me to the opportunity to experience higher states of consciousness. I am finally realizing the peace that passes understanding,an experience that no book can give.

Book #1:  Jonathan Seagull Livingstone
Author:  Richard Bach

Book #2:  Joy Luck Club
Author:  Amy Tan

Book #3:  Bridge Across Forever
Author:  Richard Bach

Comments:  All of these books have opened up my eyes and heart to myself and the world around me. Jonathan Seagull - have a story of its own. I read it to kids I worked with (aged 7-12) all of them found different aspects and all of them carried Jonathan with them - now they are grown-ups with kids of their own. All of them says that the first book they ever bought for themselves is Jonathan Seagull Livingstone - and that is a gift they got and want to carry on to their kids. Daring to dream and go their own way in life. Joy Luck Club - "my life story" - I hear music inside while reading - music from my heart. That book helped me face my past present and future. Love and hate, yin and yang, - Bridge Across Forever - as R.Bach writes - if you´ve ever felt alone in a world of strangers, missing someone you´ve never met, you´ll find a message from your love in Bridge Across Forever.
